mar y sol restaurant in Berlin
|
In Berlin everything is possible – even a Balearic „finca“on the idyllic Savignyplatz in Charlottenburg. The Mar y Sol is just that and “mucho mas!” The summer terrace with terracotta tiles, pot-plants and even a a fountain lend a very Iberian touch to this pleasant Spaniard and, if you close your eyes - particularly after a few Riojas or Penedés’ – you may mistake the traffic on Kant Strasse for waves swishing and swaying against the harbour front of Port de Andratx. |

The inside, with white-washed walls and arches, is more Moorish and can get very tight at times - the place is very popular so expect, also during the week, an atmosphere not unlike the one you find in small Andalusian bars – on weekends! The Mar y Sol has gained its popularity through solid no-frills cooking at reasonable prices.
The very diversified menu convinces with specialities of all Spanish regions – for starters dive into the tasty tapas and emerge for a “Pierna de cordero a la Leonesa” (leg-of-lamb Leon-style with green beans and rosemary-potatoes) or “Rape con arroz al limón y verdura” (angler-fish on a lemon-rice with fresh vegetables). Typical Spanish desserts like the famous and mouth-watering “Crema Catalana” round up the swim.
A serious wine list with around 70 Spanish top credences offer a very satisfying choice to accompany any dish. The service, despite the buzzling atmosphere, is always friendly and helpful.
