Trattoria Europa restaurant in Frankfurt
|
The Trattoria Europa is, since a few decades already, a favourite and second home to many italophiles residing in the poshy Holzhausen & Dornbusch area and for personnel of the nearby Bundesbank and local broadcasting network Hessischer Rundfunk. |

Regrettably, very few guests in town have discovered this cozy and very hospitable eatery despite it being only a roughly 7 minutes taxi ride from the trade-fair-grounds or banking quarter.
There are loads of osterias, trattorias and locandas in town – most even very good – but few beat this place for a distinctive Italian flair. Since late 2007, the Europa is being run by the “makers” of the Isoletta and the local “capo” is Giacomo, who’s known, also to many international visitors, from his time at the Leons.
The interior is rustic country-house style with a fair-share of wood, terracotta floors and walls decorated with wine bottles. On smart white linen-clad tables where a fresh flower is never missing, earthy dishes prepared with prime regional ingredients and enhanced with subdued modish touches are served by a professional waiting-crew, all qualified to recommend a daily special or brief one on the peculiarities of a specific wine.
